The 1769-IF8 is a Compact I/O module is a single slot, DIN rail or panel mountable module compatible for use with Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. This module has Eight (8) input channels, able to process analog current and voltage signals. Current signals such as 0-20 mA and 4-20mA with full ranges of 0-21 mA and 3.2 - 21 mA are compatible Current inputs while configurable voltage signals includes +/10VDC, 1-5VDC, 0-5VDC, 0-10VDC with full ranges of +/- 10.5 VDC, 0.5 - 5.25 VDC, -0.5 - +5.25VDC, -0.5 - +10.5VDC respectively. The module can also be used with a MicroLogix 1500 controller as an expansion module, installed after the MicroLogix’ base unit.
The Analog input modules operate by converting the received analog signal to binary format with the use of an integrated Analog to Digital (ADC) circuit. This binary array is stored at the processor’ register may be saved in Integer or format which can be accessed anytime with the use of a variety of analog instruction set available from the programming software. The data processed can be configured as engineering units, scaled for PID, percent range and raw data.

Speaking of programming software, configure the 1769-IF8 with RSLogix 500 if used with MicroLogix 1500 or RSLogix5000 / Studio 5000 programming software if used with CompactLogix system. The Individual channel configuration can be accomplished through the software. Fine tuning options include input signal type, process alarm settings, input filters, real time sampling, time stamping, alarm deadband and other parameters. Enabling a channel automatically activates the built-in open circuit which monitors wire connectivity and loop connectivity.

The power supply distance rating of 1769-IF8 is 8 modules. This means the module cannot be installed more than 8 modules away from the power supply.
