Product Overview
The 1794-ASB2 is a Remote I/O (RIO) adapter module from the compact and modular Flex IO family.
This module is used to implement distributed I/O solutions through its capability to support installation of up to Two (2) flex IO modules in its local chassis.
This module supports installation in a DIN rail or directly to a mounting plate. It requires a supply voltage range of 19.2V to 31.2V dc, with nominal supply of 24VDC. It has a maximum Flexbus output current of 640mA, maximum power consumption of 450mA from external 24V supply, Power Dissipation of 4.6W maximum @ 31.2V dc and thermal dissipation of 15.7 BTU/hr @ 31.2V dc.
This module supports a variety of communication rate such as 57.6 Kbps 115.2 Kbps and 230.4 Kbps. If used with a PLC-5/15 and PLC-5/25, only 57.6 Kbps is supported. It has built-in indicators to provide feedback regarding the Power, Adapter active, Adapter fault and Adapter active.
The 1794-ASB, regardless of the series, has a standard addressing mode. The modules address is configured using the provide DIP switches. Ensure that the last adapter is installed with an appropriate terminating resistor. The function of the terminating resistor is to close the RIO highway by connecting it to the RIO terminal of the last adapter. Without a terminating resistor, communication may become erratic or cannot be established at all.
This module is designed with a Reset pushbutton to reset and restart module communications. RIO communication is highly susceptible to noise which may affect the quality of Block Transfer Read and Write. These instructions have internal diagnostic to determine if the read and write function is carried out successfully. When multiple errors have been identified, this may result to failed RIO transfers, thus, a reset of the module can be carried out.
