Product Overview
The 2711-B5A8L1 is a Human Machine Interface (HMI) terminal that supports multi-node communication through the embedded DH+ communication port. It may be used to connect to a single or multiple PLC, or SLC 5/04 controller, or ControlLogix controller platforms. It supports direct access to controller logic and data without the need for specialized programming. DH+ supports a distance of up to 10000 ft, maximum.
This particular product belongs to the PanelView Standard Operator Terminal made by Allen-Bradley. It is a discontinued product line, including the 2711-B5A8L1 which was discontinued on 12/31/2012 with replacement part product of 2711P-T12C4D8.
Aside from the robust communication option, the terminal also features a 5.5-inch monochrome graphic screen, backlight designed for 100,000 hr operation, keypad input interface with Ten (10) function keys and Touch screen made of 128 touch sensitive cells.
This terminal is powered by a voltage supply range of 18 to 32VDc with nominal supply of 24VDC. It also has an integral memory of 170 KB application runtime and 240 KB expandable nonvolatile memory.
Alarm handling may be implemented with this terminal with the use of active and historical alarm list provided by the PanelBuilder32 software. Alarm printing may be executed for sending print commands via the RS232 printer interface. Alarm list, description, timestamp and messages may be printed to create a detailed communication file.
The operator terminal may be used to execute multiple applications intended for different machines or processes. One application may be executed in a single instance configured using the built-in menu of the operator terminal.
