The 1769-L31 is used with Allen Bradleys 1769 CompactLogix family. This processor has a built-in Two (2) RS232 communication and 512 Kbytes memory. This controller has a Dual RS232 communication assigned as Channel 0 and Channel 1 which can be individually configured and operated. Channel 0 is a fully isolated channel and supports DH485, DF1 and ASCII communication while Channel 1 is non-isolated that supports DH485 and DF1 protocol.
The controllers non-volatile memory is through the 1784-CF64 or 1784-CF128 CompactFlash card which cater 64 Kbytes and 128 Kbytes memory respectively. It supports installation of 16 Compact I/O modules and a maximum of Three (3) I/O banks may be installed as expansion.
The controller also supports Allen-Bradley protocols such as DH485, DeviceNet and Ethernet through Peer to Peer messaging. ASCII devices may be connected to Channel 0 for communication with ASCII capable devices such as barcode reader, scanners and other devices.
The controller uses a battery with part-number 1769-BA. The battery retains the user program and controller parameters.
User program intended for download to the controller is created using RSLogix5000 software. This processor supports ladder, statement list, function block programming languages. Data files are accessible through the software via drag and drop or data file selection. It also supports tag-based and alias addressing which help keep the user comments and descriptions from the memory.
The controller power supply distance rating is Four (4) modules. Install the processor within 4 slot positions from the power supply. Only one controller can be used in a CompactLogix system.
