The 1769-OB16P is a Compact I/O module used with Allen Bradleys MicroLogix 1500 and CompactLogix family of controllers. It features Sixteen (16) 24VDC electronically fused output channels for controlling DC. This module only supports sourcing output configuration. It has an integral transient voltage suppressor for module circuit protection. Alternatively, an external transient suppression may be installed by the user installed to further protect the module from damage especially for DC loads with high inrush currents. Furthermore, leakage current may be prevented by connecting in parallel a 5.6 k?, ½ W resistor.
The module comes with a 1769-RTBN18 removable terminal block for modularity and simplicity of wiring. This terminal block easily detaches from the module in the event of replacing the 1769-OB16P. It only supports sourcing configuration thus, the +VDC teminal must be connected to the external +DC source and the -DC to the DC COM and loads.
The power supply distance rating of 1769-OB16P is 8 modules. If installed with controllers that supports more than 8 local modules, a power supply working as an I/O power supply must be used. Compatible power supply to perform such task are 1769-PA2, 1769-PB2, 1769-PA4 and 1769-PB4.
The 1769-OB16P can be installed on a MicroLogix 1500 and CompactLogix chassis. Configure the settings of the 1769-OB16P with the RSLogix500 software for MicroLogix and RSLogix5000 or Studio 5000 programming software when using CompactLogix. The modules configurable parameters such as module inhibition, packet interval, slot assignment and revision number provide a convenient way to fine tune the operation of the module. Further parameterization can be done by accessing the modules input data files. The data files store the status of the input addresses as well as module diagnostics.
The module can be mounted on a 35 X 75 or 35 X 15 mm DIN rail. When installing the module, remove power from the backplane by turning off the power supply as electric arcs may occur during the locking of bus levers. The mounting surface of the module must be properly grounded by connecting to a grounding bar or a grounded metal panel.
VIIIVThe 1769-OB16P is a compact Sixteen (16) channel 24VDC electronically fused source output module. This module is capable of controlling DC loads in sourcing configuration.
