The 1769-OV16 is a Compact I/O module for the 1769 Compact I/O product family. It is used with Allen Bradleys MicroLogix and CompactLogix product family. The module is capable of energizing DC loads following sinking configuration.
This module has Sixteen (16) 24VDC output channels. Energize solenoid actuated valves, relays, pilot lamps, audio/visual alarms and other actuating devices. A removable terminal block with part number 1769-RTBN18 is shipped with the module. It easily attach and detach to the base module. This feature enables ease of troubleshooting, simplified wiring and module replacement. When wiring the module, terminate the V+ of the load to the DC+ source and DC- of the source to the DC COM terminal of the module. Short the DC+ to the +VDC terminal of the module.
The module can be used with MicroLogix 500 and CompactLogix controllers. Configure using RSLogix500 programming software and RSLogix5000 or Studio5000 programming software respectively. The modules configurable parameters include module inhibition, packet interval, slot assignment and revision number provide a convenient way to fine tune the operation of the module. Further parameterization can be done by accessing the modules input data files. The data files store the status of the input addresses as well as module diagnostics.
External module protection may be installed to increase the module lifespan. Leakage current may be prevented by connecting in parallel a 5.6 k?, ½ W resistor. Use a diode reverse-wired 1N004 across the load for transistor outputs switching 24V DC inductive loads.
The power supply distance rating of 1769-OV16 is 8 modules. There is no limit to the number of modules that can be used as long as the distance rating is observed. The module can be inserted to any adjacent I/O module including the controller in the chassis.
The module can be mounted on a 35 X 75 or 35 X 15 mm DIN rail. When installing the module, remove power from the backplane by turning off the power supply as electric arcs may occur during the locking of bus levers. The mounting surface of the module must be properly grounded by connecting to a grounding bar or a grounded metal panel.VIIIVThe 1769-OV16 is a Compact I/O, Sixteen (16) channel sink output module. This module is capable of energizing DC loads in sink wiring configuration.
