The 1769-PA2 is a CompactLogix component used as an I/O Power supply. This power supply module may be installed beside any adjacent module installed in the CompactLogix chassis.
The 1769-PA2s specific purpose is to maintain sufficient power in the communication bus. CompactLogix modules including the processor have power supply distance rating requirement. This requirement dictates that any module should be within the range of the distance rating. It ensures that no module will be left with no power thus, proper planning of installation is needed.
This power supply operates on an input voltage range of 85-265VAC and 47-63 Hz frequency. It has a current capacity of 2.0A at 5VDC and 0.8A at 24VDC. This power supply is capable of supplying system power to the left and right side of the module.
The power supply has an integral program scan hold-up time after loss of power internal protection. It enables the power supply to maintain operation during brief power losses without compromising the system operation. The duration of power supply hold-up time varies with reference to the actual configuration. The usual supported range is 5ms to 10 seconds. In the event that the hold-up time is nearing expiration and main power supply has not yet returned, the power supply sends a feedback of power supply shutdown to the CPU. Once received by the CPU, the CPU proceeds to proper shutdown.
The maximum current the 1769-PA2 is 2 Amperes at 5VDC and 1 Ampere at 24VDC. Up to Eight (8) modules can be attached on either side of the power supply. It is shipped with a pre-installed fuse Wickmann 19195-3.15A or Littelfuse 02153.15MXP.
Observe proper spacing from enclosure walls and panel accessories. In most applications, convective cooling keeps the system within the operating Temperature range. Maintain 50mm (2 inches) clearances on all sides of the CompactLogix chassis for proper air circulation.
