The 1769-PA4 is a CompactLogix component used as an I/O Power supply. The power supply module provides power to the communication bus. This modules is installed in the local chassis or at any Compact I/O bank.
The 1769-PA4s specific purpose is to maintain sufficient power in the communication bus of the local or expansion chassis. The power supply installation must be appropriately planned to meet the Power Supply Distance Rating requirement. CompactLogix modules including the processor follows this requirement. This requirement requires that any module should be within the specified distance rating. It ensures that there is sufficient module in the bus and valid configuration is maintained.
This power supply has selectable voltage range of 85 to 265V AC or 170 or 265V AC.. The modules input frequency is 47-63 Hz frequency with rated current output of 4.0A at 5VDC and 2.0A at 24VDC. This power supply is capable of supplying system power to the left and right side of the module, with 8 modules on each side for a total of 16 modules.
The power supply supports program scan hold-up time after loss of power feature. It enables the power module maintain operation during brief power interruption without compromising the system operation of the entire chassis. The duration of power supply may vary from 5ms to 10 seconds. In the event that the hold-up time is near the set limit, the power supply module sends a feedback of power supply shutdown to the CPU. Once received by the CPU, the CPU proceeds to proper shutdown.
The maximum current the 1769-PA4 is 4 Amperes at 5VDC and 2 Ampere at 24VDC. It is shipped with a pre-installed fuse Wickmann 19195-3.15A or Littelfuse 02153.15MXP.
