Product Overview
The 1794-APB is a Flex IO Profibus adapter module that is used to connect a Flex IO rack to a Profibus Network. This module supports DIN rail or Panel / Wall mounting. This module is used to implement distributed I/O applications as it supports Eight (8) Flex IO modules of any combination in its local rack.
This module supports transmission speed of up to 12.0Mbits/s. It may be connected to an existing or new Profibus network through the single 9-pin D-shell Profibus communication port using a standard drop cable or any approved equivalent.
This module function as a slave device. It interacts with Profibus DP master controller to perform I/O data exchange. The DP master module sends output data to the Profibus network that is picked up by the appropriate 1794-APB adapter. The adapter transfers the captured I/O information to the Flex IO backplane and to the output modules to update their local I/O registers. For input data, the Flex IO input module data are collected by the 1794-APB through the backplane. The available data that is captured by the adapter is sent to the Profibus network to be picked up by the appropriate controller or master.
The adapter has Two (2) diagnostic indicators, One (1) Profibus network connector, 24VDC power terminals and thumbwheel switches. The diagnostic indicator visually reports the Device Status (STATUS) and Profibus link status (PROFIBUS). During power-up, the LED may turn and off as part of the self- test. Set the node address by modifying the thumbwheel switches position. Valid settings are 01 to 99 however, check your Profibus design to identify the maximum number of nodes that can be connected to your Profibus network. Typically, Profibus supports up to 31 nodes.
