The 1794-IB16XOB16P is a DIN rail mounted Flex IO combination Discrete Input and Output module that features Sixteen (16) input channels supporting sink configuration and Sixteen (16) sourcing output channels. This module features a cost-effective design and ideal for use in an enclosure with limited expansion space. This module is compatible for use with FlexLogix Controllers or with Flex IO communication adapters to implement distributed IO solution.
The input channels have maximum ON state Voltage of 31.2V DC and minimum of 10 VDC, with 24VDC being the nominal input signal. The output channels have similar characteristics, with maximum ON state Voltage at 31.2 and minimum of 10VDC. Each output are electronically fused for individual protection.
Combination Input and Output modules promotes space saving and cost effective solution as it eliminates the need of individual hardware which may take up space in the enclosure. Also, in large applications, it helps to save the module occupancy limit of a particular communication adapter it is attached to. One major disadvantage of combination modules is that once the module becomes defective, the entire hardware is involved. This is true if the damage to the module involves the power circuitry. The input and output circuitry remains separated and may still operated if one exhibits a problem.
Use this module to eliminate the need of buying another adapter just to house a single input or output module. However, if criticality is considered and high-availability is being needed, separate modules for input and output is still the ideal choice.
