Product Overview
The 1794-IM8 is an electronic module that belongs to the Flex IO product family. This module features an Eight (8) non-isolated discrete 220VAC input channels. This module is ideal for use with AC voltages including direct interfacing to contactor auxiliary contacts, Motor Control Centers (MCC) without the need of an interposing relay. Though this may be used in such application, application of interposing circuits is still possible as it offers isolation and protection to any device.
This module is attached to a DIN rail via a compatible terminal base. Compatible terminal base for this module are 1794-TBN and 1794-TBNK. The terminal base houses the actual 1794-IM8 module as the terminal base also provides the input and power terminals. The terminal also supports daisy chaining of power supply to an adjacent module.
The 1794-IM8 operates on an 159VAC to 264 VAC voltage range. Nominal input supply to the input channels is 240VAC. This module may also be used with FlexLogix controllers such as 1794-L33 and L34 or partnered to any 1794 Flex IO adapter module to become part of a distributed IO application.
Electrical characteristic of this module include Flexbus current is 30 mA @ 5V DC. It has maximum Power dissipation of 4.7 W @ 264V AC and maximum thermal dissipation of 16.2 BTU/hr @ 264V AC.
Each channel of the 1794-IM8 has a selectable input filter. This input filter may be modified through the programming software or via a user program. Some applications may require input filtering to avoid false triggers. Some of these are Bagasse level monitoring in Sugar industry, Coal handling bin monitoring in power industry and other systems. Particulates in air that do not actually represent the variable may come in contact with sensors for a very short time period. This may cause false trigger. Tuning the input filter will negate these false positives as well as false negatives.
VIIIVThe 1794-IM8 is a Flex IO Eight (8) channel 220VAC input module. This module is compatible with any Flex IO adapter adapters to implement distributed I/O application.
