The 1794-VHSC is an intelligent electronic module that belongs to the Flex IO product family. This module is a Very High-Speed Counter that is designed for use in industrial applications and interface with high-frequency switching or binary instruments such as encoder, switches, pulse generators and other devices.

the 1794-VHSC supports multiple modes of operation such as Counter Mode, Encoder X1 Mode, Encoder X2 Mode, Encoder X4 Mode, Period / Rate mode, Continuous rate, rate measurement frequency and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).

This module especially features Two (2) configurable counter for Three (3) operating modes and Four (4) outputs in paired isolation. Input are capable of Single-Ended of Differential inputs while outputs are current sourcing rated at 5 or 12 to 24VDC, 0.5 maximum mA @ 5V; 1A max @ 12 to 24V. Input counts for this module can reach up to 16,777,215 binary number.

Counted value may be reset by the Reset Count bits located in WORD 0, BIT 0 AND 4 of the Control Word. Setting the bit to 1 will reset the corresponding counter to Zero (0). Alternative way to reset this counter using the gate / reset input.

This module may only be used with Flex IO Ethernet Adapter with part number 1794-AENT or 1794-AENTR. Configuration is received through the Ethernet adapter module. After configuration is downloaded and operation of the module is defined, input pulses are converted by the module into binary information and stores locally, waiting for the adapter request to transfer data. One request is received, data is transferred through the FlexBus and made available to the Ethernet adapter which then is transmitted over Ethernet network to the processor. This is a continuously happening in high frequency to ensure updated data is provided by the module.VIIIVThe 1794-VHSC is a Flex IO Very High-Speed Counter Module.
