Product Overview
The 20BD014A0AYNANC0 is a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) or sometimes referred to as Variable Speed Drive (VSD). It belongs to the product family of PowerFlex 700 adjustable frequency AC drives. The intended use of this drive is to implement speed control while retaining key features of discrete motor control.
The drives input voltage is 480VAC, 3-phase. It has an output voltage of 0-480VAC with rated current of 14.0 A and power output of 10.0 horsepower. This drive has an integral IGBT brake with a filtered emission. It also comes with a user manual.
When selecting the proper VFD for a specific motor, the ideal rule to follow is that the VFD size must be greater than the AC motors Full Load Ampere (FLA) rating. Do not size a VFD using Output power alone. Most VFDs also do not come with a selectable input range while induction motors may come with this option. Identify the operating voltage category then select the current output that is 1 - 2 steps higher with the motor rated FLA.
VFDs are not always mounted near the motor as the platform where the motor is installed exhibits high vibration during operation and high shock upon start-up. VFDs are usually mounted from a Motor Control Center (MCC) as MCC have controlled environment.
One of the most used features of a VFD aside from speed control is the ability to control the speed ramp-up. This prevents the VFD from increasing or decreasing speed rapidly in a short period of time. Deviation alarm may also be introduced to monitor the amount of increase in speed from one point to another. If the defined deviation is set, the VFD will produce an alarm code.
