Product Overview
The Adjustable Frequency AC drive with part number 22C-D045A103 is manufactured by Rockwell Automation. This product belongs to the PowerFlex400 product family that is specifically designed for Fan and Pump applications.
This drive is designed to operate in voltage ratings of 380-480VAC, Output Voltage of 0-460VAC, rated output Current of 45.5 A and Power of 22.0 kW (30.0 HP). RS485, Metasys and FLN is integral to the base model of the drive. With RS485, multi-drop connection may be established, and parameters may be sent over the network.
This drive may implement speed control via local variation initiated from the digital up and down keys of the integral keypad. An external potentiometer with 1-10k Ohm and 2Watt power consumption may be used as remote speed reference. The analog input channels support remote speed reference as it may be wired to a 0-10VDC or 4-20mA signal sources which may be scaled to 0-60Hz speed, for speed modulation.
A more advanced way of operating this drive is through the integrated architecture method in which the drive parameters are sent and received over a specified communication network. This PowerFlex drive is ready to implement this architecture through the built-In RS485 communication port. It uses 3-wire conductor and follow RS485 technology.
There are advantages and disadvantages when implementing hardwired and integrated architecture method. Hardwired systems are proven reliable with minimal electrical interference vulnerability. This is the most common of control with VFDs. With an integrated architecture, communication breakdown may mean lost of remote control to the device. It will remain operation and may still operate in accordance with the previous state. It can still be operated locally. In more modern applications especially processes with high level of criticality, bot method may be implemented.
