 Product Overview

The Allen-Bradley 2711P-T15C4B1 is a PanelView Plus 1500 that is used to provide centralized view of machine or process data to enable operators understand the system status and control process accordingly. This Hardware is manufactured by Rockwell Automation for the PanelView Plus Operator Terminal product catalog.

This operator terminal is essentially a Human Machine Interface (HMI) terminal. Other may refer to this unit as Man Machine Interface (MMI) and Operator Terminal Panel (OTP). All refer to the same device.

This HMI device features a 15-inch screen with 1024 x 768 resolution for process visualization. It is operated via the analog resistive touchscreen interface that is rated for 1 million actuations.

This HMI hardware is especially compatible with Allen-Bradley products. The Ethernet port is most ideal with CompactLogix and ControlLogix controllers as these controller platform’s native protocol is CIP via ethernet. The DH485 is compatible with mature products be it an Allen-Bradley or 3rd party device as this protocol is a mature proprietary protocol as well. The RS232 supports a variety of controllers, old and new. A 9-pin D-sub connector must be used with appropriate upload and download cables. Some of these are 2711-NC13, 2711-NC14, for PLC5 and MicroLogix, ControlLogix, CompactLogix and FlexLogix controllers. This device also supports 3rd-party devices.

This operator terminal requires FactoryTalk View Studio for Machine Edition. It is the common development software for PanelView Plus products that allows offline configuration, testing and debugging application. This contributes in lesser engineering and development time as the software does not require an actual hardware to begin development.
