The 1769-ADN is a DeviceNet scanner module for use with the 1769 CompactLogix or MircoLogix 1500 systems. It may also be used with legacy devices such as SLC 500 family as an adapter for retrofitting with existing DeviceNet networks.
The adapter can be installed to any adjacent 1769 module. It can be mounted on a DIN Rail or to a mounting plate. When used with a MircoLogix 1500, the modules is installed after the base unit as an expansion module. When attaching a 1769-ADN adapter to a CompactLogix system, ensure that the bus connectors are securely locked together to create a proper electrical connection. If the locking mechanisms offers some resistance, disengage the module and inspect if the PIV connectors are properly aligned before proceeding again with installation.
Do not remove the sticker that covers the circuitry of the module. Unless drilling and other installation activities are finished and system start-up must be performed, remove the sticker from the module.
The DeviceNet cable follows cable assignments such as BLK Wire connect to -V, BLU Wire connected to CAN Low, Bare Wire connected to Drain, WHT Wire connected to CAN High and RED Wire connected to +V. Use this pin assignments as troubleshooting guide.
Set the DeviceNet address using the rotary switches located at the front panel of the module. Valid network address are 00 through 63. Switch settings from 64 to 99 instruct the adapter to use the software programmed value while address 95 is system reserved and should not be used for normal operation.
The 1769-ADN must be configured with RSNetworx for DeviceNet. This configuration tool identifies all the devices (I/O modules, power supplies, expansion cables, end caps) and their locations in the 1769 system. VIIIVThe 1769-ADN is a communication module used with 1769 CompactLogix or MicroLogix family. It enables DeviceNet connectivity through the integrated DeviceNet communication port. This module supports DIN rail or panel mounting.
