The 1769-IA8I is used with Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500 and 1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. This module is a compact, Eight (8) individually isolated channels discrete input points. The module accepts voltage signals of 100 / 120 VAC within the voltage range of 79 VAC - 132 VAC. The minimum On-State voltage of 79VAC and minimum OFF state voltage of this module is 20VAC. The module exhibits an ON and OFF input delay of up to 20ms.

The 1769-IA8I can be installed directly on a 1769 chassis or to an I/O bank of a CompactLogix chassis. It can be attached to the controller or to an adjacent I/O module. It occupies a single slot of the CompactLogix chassis and shall be installed within Eight (8) modules from the power supply. It may also be used with MicroLogix 1500 controller, installed after the base module.

When installing within a CompactLogix chassis, Install the module by locating the guide slots of the controller or the adjacent module. In a MicroLogix chassis, install the module near the end or after the last module. Connect the module to the communication bus with the use of a ribbon cable supplied with the module.
The 1769-IA8I requires an external power source to energize the input channels. Each channel has a separate signal common. This separation of common terminal allows the module to be used with different input channel that has different power sources. The module’s circuitry is powered through the communication bus with a current draw of 90mA @5.1VDC and heat dissipation of 1.81 W.

Use (22…14 AWG) solid or (22…16 AWG) stranded wire for this module. The input signals are terminated to a removable terminal block that comes with the module. Input labels can be put on the included door label strip.
