The 1769-PB2 is a CompactLogix DC power supply used as a I/O power supply in the local chassis or expansion chassis. It can be mounted on a standard DIN rail or directly to a mounting plate of an enclosure. The 1769-PB2 supplies power in both directions rated 2 amps at 5V DC; 1 amp at 24V DC.
The 1769-PB2 or any other Compact I/O power supply are c-UL-us and C-Tick certified. These power supplies have an operating temperature of 0
60 °C (32
140 °F), Storage temperature of -40
85 °C (-40
185 °F), Vibration rating of 5 g @ 10
500 Hz and operating shock of 30 g.
This power supply is powered by a DC power source with rated range of 19.2 to 32V DC with nominal supply of 24VDC. The modules current capacity is 2.0A and 0.8A at 5VDC and 24VDC respectively. It does not function as load power supply to the I/O module, furthermore, it shall not be used as load power supply. The 1769-PB2 provides power to the CompactLogix bus to energize the individual internal circuitry of 1769 modules connected to the communication bus to initiate module functions.
The power supply has a built-in feature called program scan hold-up time after loss of power. The feature allows the power supply deal with brief losses without affecting stopping or shutting down the machine or process being controlled. This feature usually have a minimum time of 5 ms to 10 seconds. Complete power loss or input voltage dropping below the minimum input range triggers this feature. If input power does not return within the specified time limit, the module send status feedback to the CPU to initiate proper shutdown.
CompactLogix modules can be attached from left or right side of the power supply. Up to Eight (8) modules can be attached on either side of the power supply for a total of 16 modules. This power supply serves as the reference for the power supply distance rating. For instance, If a Compact I/O is specified to have a Power Supply Distance rating of 8, it means the modules and its instances shall not be more than 8 modules away from an I/O power supply. Another I/O power supply will be needed or strategically plan the installation of the existing power supply to accommodate the I/O. The 1769-PB2 can supply power to both left and right side simultaneously.
Maintain 50mm (2 inches) clearances on all sides of the CompactLogix chassis for proper air circulation. Observe proper spacing from enclosure walls and panel accessories. In most applications, convective cooling keeps the system within the operating Temperature range.
VIIIVThe 1769-PB2 is a Compact I/O DC power supply. This power supply provides power to the bus where CompactLogix module are connected.
