 Product Overview

The Operator terminal from Allen-Bradley with part number 2711P-B12C4D2 is an automation component that is used to provide visualization and control to enable actual machine or process interaction from a single workplace in the machine level area. It has an embedded keypad and analog touchscreen interface along with a 12.1-inch colored screen for visualization purposes.

This HMI has 128 MB of Flash and Random-Access Memory. These are individually allocated to function as local storage and runtime user memory. The Flash memory is occupied by operator terminal files such as Data Logs, recipes, runtime application and project backup. The Random-Access Memory (RAM) is dedicated for runtime utilization. In situations that the screen has a significant delay of switching or tags are not updating regularly, the RAM may not be sufficient or the HMI may be loaded with too many symbols and images. If this happens, the HMI may be attached with expansion memory modules such as a Compact Flash or a RAM. To decide whether what memory module needs to be added, Flash memory is simply for local storage while RAM is for runtime. If runtime lag is being experienced, it would probably be the RAM that needs upgrade. If the Flash memory is going full, the HMI will provide feedback that the flash memory has less space available.

The 2711P-B12C4D2 is available only as a spare-part as it has been discontinued by the manufacturer on 12/31/2012. Appropriate replacement part is 2711P-B12C4D8 or a PanelView Plus 6 operator terminal with 2711P-RN20 module for additional Ethernet port.VIIIVThe 2711P-B12C4D2 is a PanelView Plus 1250 Terminal from Allen-Bradley.
