 Product Overview

The Allen-Bradley 2711P-B7C4B1 is a Human Machine Interface (HMI) product from Allen-Bradley that is used to improve operability and safety of a process by providing process visualization through the 6.5-inch colored screen and operator input areas such as Analog resistive touchscreen and Keypad assembly.

The colored screen support implementation of colored graphics to provide a more informative animation feature. It has a resolution of 649 x 480 pixels with display area of 132 x 99 mm (5.20 x 3.90 in). Bout input areas of this device is capable of 1 million actuation and recommended to be operated using a gloved finger of stylus to protect against field contaminants as this HMI device is typically installed in the machine or process area level.

The on-board ethernet enables connection to a scalable ethernet network which may be used with more modern HMI devices. It supports auto-negotiation in speeds ranging from 10/100Mbps. It may be implemented using a Cat5 or Cat6 cable and covers a minimum distance of 100 meters. DH485 is designed for daisy chain topology allowing communication to multiple devices for data exchange. This is more fitted with legacy devices. The RS232 port covers a relatively short distance and low speed. As the RS232 cable length increases, the baud rate or data transfer rate decrease. Dual USB ports also come with the module to allow installation of mouse, keyboard and USB hub.

This HMI has a pre-allocated memory of 32MB Flash Memory and 64MB Random-Access Memory. Unlike other terminal, both these memory formats may be expanded through an optional module CompactFlash and Random Access Memory modules. This device is powered by an input supply of 100 to 240VAC.
