The Allen-Bradley 2711P-T10C4A9 is a PanelView Plus 6 terminal from Allen-Bradley that is pre-installed with an extended feature if Windows Compact Embedded (CE) software version 6.0.

An extended version of Windows CE features file viewer capability. It can be used to open Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel files. This is primarily useful to view files locally such as operator instructions, user manuals, data logs and reports, flow charts and other files. Additionally, the extended feature includes Remote desktop connectivity, Internet explorer or web browser, Media player and Wordpad Text editor. Windows media player is typically used as an Active X control which is supported also by the Windows CE software. When combined, the Active X instance of media player may be used un the HMI application as sound player when an alarm or an event occurs. It may also be used to video and safety instructions.

This HMI terminal is configured using the built-in configuration mode menu, The configuration mode menu allows access to multiple terminals settings for fine tuning of the HMI operation.

FactoryTalk View Studio for Machine Edition is the software used to create applications to the terminal. The application may be downloaded using through the communication ports embedded with this device such as Ethernet, DH485, RS232 or USB. Thos same ports are also used for data exchange between partner automation devices. The terminal has integrated runtime environment FactoryTalk View Machine Edition Runtime. This does not require an activation ant may be utilized immediately with a downloaded application.

It also has a combination input interface through the integrated Keypad and Touch input interface. The keypad is made of 32 Functions keys, F1 through F16 and K1 through K16. These keys are programmable for a variety of functions accepting local and global functions. They may be used to trigger commands, sequences and other functions. The Touchscreen input interface is 8-wire analog resistive components layered with the screen to enable touch screen feature. Both these input interfaces are capable of 1 million actuations.
