 Product Overview

The 1794-OM8 is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware that is used to implement distributed IO applications. This module belongs to the Flex IO product family. It features Eight (8) non-isolated Discrete 220VAC output module. This module may be used to energize ON/OFF actuating and controlling devices working on 220VAC voltage category. It is a DIN rail mounted hardware that may be partnered to any 1794 Flex IO adapter module, 1794 FlexLogix controller and FlexLogix Extended Local I/O adapter (1794-FLA).

This module operates at a Voltage category of 159-264VAC. It has a nominal Voltage output of 240VAC. This module is attached to an adjacent module, including the Flex IO adapter or FlexLogix controller to establish connection to the backplane. It requires 30 mA @ 5V DC power from the Flexbus to energize the module’s electronic circuitry. It has maximum Power dissipation of 5.0 W @ 0.5A and maximum thermal dissipation of 17.1 BTU/hr. @ 0.5 A.

Though this module operates on a voltage category of 220VAC, it is not advisable to connect them directly to high inductive loads. Especially for aging panels and old wiring, directly connecting this module to loads may increase the risk of damaging the unit during operations. Fuse or any method of isolation may be used such as interposing relays to increase module protection. Proper grounding must also be observed to reduce noise. Electrical noises may produce false triggers to the module which may be interpreted by the processor as an actual true signal. The module has internal protection to this event false triggering event by configuring the on and off state frequency of the module.
